Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas work experience points: Check the past five years
Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) grid awards points for documented full-time work in the past five years. It awards 0 for less than one year, 8 for one year, 10 for two years, 12 for three years and 15 for four years or more. A qualifying Manitoba connection remains a separate eligibility requirement.
Build a timeline from your employment records
List each employer, position, start and end date, weekly hours and any break in employment. Identify the part of each job that falls within the five-year period. Record changes in employer or full-time status separately. The SWO points page considers continuous full-time jobs of six months or longer. The general supporting documents page says to omit jobs held for six months or less from its employment evidence section. If exactly six months could affect your score, confirm how to report it with the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program using the actual dates and applicable form.
Ask for a letter that describes the work
Manitoba asks for start and end dates, minimum weekly hours, the position and detailed duties, and wages. An employer letter should be signed by a company representative, on letterhead, with contact information. If a former employer issued only a basic service certificate, ask whether it can supply the missing details. Self-employed applicants should check the requirements for business registration, tax records and relevant contracts and confirm separately whether their experience qualifies for points.
