Skilled Worker in Manitoba long-term job offer: What should your employer confirm?

For Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM), check that the company offering long-term, full-time employment is the Manitoba company with which you completed the qualifying continuous full-time period. The employer must show that it is established and operating in Manitoba and can provide long-term, full-time employment. You need to check your valid work permit and the qualifications required for the position.

Confirm the legal employer and operating location

The company must be incorporated or registered under Canadian federal or provincial law and have established production capability, a plant or a place of business in Manitoba. If the job advertisement, pay records and offer use different trading names, ask HR to identify the legal employer and explain the names. For a transfer between companies in the same group, record the dates for each employer separately.

Separate your employment record from the future offer

The employment record establishes the work already performed. Manitoba asks for dates, minimum weekly hours, the position, detailed duties and wages. Employer letters should be on company letterhead, signed by a representative and include contact details. The long-term offer describes the future role. Compare the legal employer, workplace and duties across the records, and ask HR to explain any differences.

Check your permit and occupational requirements

Review the work permit’s expiry and conditions. Gather evidence of required licences, certification, education or training. Your settlement plan should explain how you intend to continue working and living in Manitoba. If the role or employer changes, check the update requirements for your application stage.
