Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas: When can you claim five regional points?
The Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) adaptability grid offers five additional points if you have a convincing connection to a region outside the City of Winnipeg and plan to settle there. Manitoba looks for a credible likelihood that you can contribute to that region over the long term. Start with what you can document about the place you intend to live and work.
Check the underlying Manitoba connection first
Regional points supplement a qualifying Manitoba connection. For example, a qualifying close relative may live in Winnipeg while you intend to settle in Brandon. Explain the family connection and the evidence that ties you to Brandon separately. Each answers a different part of the assessment.
Connect your employment and household plans to the same region
List any previous work or study in the area, actual employer contacts, and relevant professional licensing requirements. Record your housing and transport plans and how accompanying family members would manage school or work. Describe enquiries as enquiries and use the province’s current document instructions when submitting.
Calculate your total with and without the five points
If your score reaches 60 only with the regional points, check the evidence before relying on them. Then review the relevant Expression of Interest draw to see which candidates it considers. Revisit your score and declarations if your intended destination changes.
