The Skilled Worker Overseas education grid awards 23 points for completing two post-secondary programs of at least two years each. A two-year diploma and a one-year certificate do not meet that category. Check whether the two-year program qualifies on its own for the 20-point category.
Confirm what each institution awarded
The grid awards 25 points for a master’s degree or doctorate, 14 for a one-year post-secondary program or trade certificate, and zero for no formal post-secondary education. The province looks for a completed program at a recognized institution and the resulting certificate, diploma or degree. Record the institution, program, dates and language of instruction. If you transferred or received credit for earlier study, ask the institution for official records showing what you completed.
Check which scoring category applies
Use the category your documents support. The education factor is capped at 25 points. For a trade qualification, Manitoba may ask for a third-party assessment to compare your education and training with Canadian standards. Check professional licensing separately if you plan to work in a regulated occupation.
Pair each credential with its transcript
Manitoba asks for documentation of the education and training declared for you and your spouse. Match each completed credential to its transcripts, and check that the names and dates agree.
