Manitoba Employer Direct Initiative: What should you verify after a job offer?
If a Manitoba employer offers you a job, ask whether the company is using the Employer Direct Initiative and whether the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has sent you a formal invitation. The employer’s offer describes your job. A direct invitation through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative can establish a Manitoba connection under Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO). A later Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) allows you to submit a full provincial application.
Ask the employer what it has submitted
Confirm the initiative by name, whether the company has submitted an application to Manitoba Employer Services, and whether the position and candidate details match your documents. The employer handles the initiative application and provides its local recruitment and job records. When you receive a provincial notice, check the sender, your name, the position and the instructions.
Compare the job requirements with your records
Manitoba’s candidate overview sets conditions for the long-term, full-time job and its pay and employment terms. It also sets requirements for the candidate’s relevant experience, education or training, and language proficiency. The language threshold depends on the occupation’s TEER category. If the role is regulated, check the provincial licensing requirements separately.
Read the draw notice before entering a claim in your EOI
Some draws consider only candidates who received direct invitations through strategic recruitment. Keep the actual notice and its date, and answer Expression of Interest questions using the documents you have received. If selected and issued an LAA, follow its submission instructions and deadline. Jobseekers can apply directly to employers through the Work in Manitoba Job Portal or Canada Job Bank. Employer Services does not match candidates with jobs.
