Checking a New Zealand Green List Tier 1 job offer for Straight to Residence

Start with the legal employer, the actual role and the occupation-specific evidence. Immigration New Zealand requires a qualifying full-time Tier 1 job or offer from an accredited employer. If the offer uses a familiar job title but the duties differ from the listed role, compare the job description with the Green List entry before relying on it.

Identify the company that will employ you

Search the accredited employer list using the legal name on your offer or employment agreement. A recruiter, a trading brand and the company that signs and pays you can be different. If the offer only shows a brand name, ask HR to confirm the employing entity and provide details you can check. Keep the final offer and note when you checked accreditation. If you cannot locate the company, confirm the details with the employer and INZ before treating the requirement as met.

Check the remaining term, hours and pay

The role must be full-time. INZ lists permanent employment, fixed-term employment for at least 12 months from the application date, or a contract or continuous contracts for at least six months. A contract for services can carry additional skill or pay requirements.

For example, an 18-month fixed-term contract may have only ten months left when you apply. Check the remaining term from your intended application date. If the employer intends to extend it, obtain the updated agreement and check when it takes effect. Make sure the final document shows the role, hours, duration and pay. Where it gives an annual salary without guaranteed hours, ask for the hours and check the applicable pay requirement. Use the listed rate for the occupation or the applicable INZ median wage threshold if the role has no specified rate.

Match the Green List entry to your evidence

Write down each requirement from the relevant Tier 1 entry and the document that supports it. For professional registration, check the registration status and scope of practice. For a qualification requirement, gather the award and transcript and check whether INZ requires a qualification assessment. Compare the final job description with the offer if either document was updated during recruitment.

Age, English, health and character requirements also apply. For a review with Premiervisa Group, have the job offer, duties, legal employer name, hours, pay and occupation-specific evidence ready.
