What to check after your Fiji Assured Income residence permit is approved

Start with the expiry date and conditions on your actual permit. Fiji’s Ministry of Immigration describes an initial six-month grant and a remaining term of two and a half years issued after it receives qualifying evidence of a FJD 100,000 remittance and/or a property purchase of the required value. Plan your stay and any return trip around the permit already in force.

Track each permit and the second-stage evidence

Keep the approval letter, application number and Immi Hub notices together. Record passport and permit expiry dates for each family member, especially anyone who applied separately. Confirm which bank or property records the Ministry accepts, how to submit them and when to check the outcome. Retain copies of payment records and any acknowledgements. If the first permit is approaching expiry while documents are still under review, ask the Ministry about your current status and next steps.

Check before taking up work or operating a business

The Ministry excludes people who intend to work, take employment or operate a business in Fiji under this category. If your plans change after approval, confirm the required authorisation before starting the activity. For a remote or cross-border arrangement, describe where you would work, who would pay you and what activity you would undertake when seeking clarification.

Check the permit before travel or expiry

Before booking travel, check the passport, permit and entry requirements for each traveller on the intended return date. If the initial permit might expire while you are away, confirm the later grant and return requirements before leaving. If you plan to stay beyond your current permit, confirm whether renewal or extension is available for your category. The Ministry’s general guidance is to lodge before the current permit expires where renewal or extension is allowed.
