Can your spouse and children join your Fiji Assured Income residence application?
Fiji’s Ministry of Immigration allows a legal spouse and children under 18 to be included in an Assured Income residence application. A de facto partner needs a separate application. A child who is already 18 falls outside the under-18 inclusion rule and may need a separate Co-Extensive Residence Permit. If a birthday is close, ask the Ministry which date it uses to assess age before scheduling the family’s lodgement.
Documents for family members included in the main application
List each person’s passport name, date of birth, relationship to the main applicant and proposed lodgement date. The Ministry’s dependant checklist includes a recent passport photo, certified passport biodata, a medical report and residence terms and conditions. It also calls for a certified marriage certificate for a spouse and lists certified birth certificates for dependants.
Check that names and dates match across passports and civil records. If a spelling or name has changed, gather the document that explains the difference. For records in another language, arrange English translation and notarisation as required by the Ministry. Schedule medical appointments with enough time to finish certification and translations before the reports expire.
When someone needs a separate permit
The Ministry’s Co-Extensive Residence Permit page says a child aged 18 or older may qualify if they have never married and are fully dependent on a parent holding a valid permit. Gather evidence of who pays for their living costs and check when the parent’s permit will be available. The Ministry’s separate checklist includes relationship and financial support evidence, the main permit holder’s approval letter, and police and medical documents.
For a de facto partner, confirm which relationship records the Ministry accepts and when the separate application can be lodged. Budget for the separate application and check its current fee schedule. A co-extensive permit cannot run beyond the main permit’s term.
Confirm a route for each person before arranging the move
For each family member, confirm the application route, certificate validity and entry arrangements. The Assured Income checklist references police reports for people aged 18 and over. Anyone applying separately should follow the checklist for that route. If a family member intends to work or run a business in Fiji, check the permission needed for that activity before relying on a residence permit.
