After applying for RCIP permanent residence: AOR, biometrics and medical exams
Once Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sends your acknowledgement of receipt (AOR), you can start checking the status of your Rural Community Immigration Pilot application. While you wait, monitor your email for instructions and keep a copy of the documents you submitted. Use the IRCC web form to report changes to your contact details or family situation.
Put the biometrics deadline on your calendar
IRCC’s RCIP instructions require applicants aged 14 to 79 to give fingerprints and a photo, even if previous biometrics remain valid. After paying the applicable fee and submitting a complete application, watch for an instruction letter. Count the 30-day deadline from the date on the letter and book an in-person appointment at a collection site. If family members are in different locations, check each person's appointment options and retain their booking records separately.
Use the medical instructions sent for your application
You and applicable family members must complete the medical exams as directed by IRCC. When the email arrives, check the people listed and follow the booking instructions. Keep each family member’s letter and appointment information together, especially if people attend in different places. If IRCC requests further evidence, use the channel and deadline specified in that request.
Report a change before it affects correspondence
For a new email address, marriage, birth, divorce or death, use the IRCC web form to update the application. Keep the application number, date of the change and relevant records handy. Save a copy of the update and any confirmation so you can refer to it if IRCC asks for more information.
