What makes a job offer valid for Canada’s Atlantic Immigration Program?

An AIP offer must come from an employer designated by the province where you will work. The job must be full time, at least 30 hours a week, and paid year-round. For a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 position, the offer must cover at least one year from the day you become a permanent resident. A TEER 4 offer must be for permanent employment with no set end date.

Confirm which company is hiring you

Ask for the employer’s legal name, the work location and the duties. If a recruiter contacted you, confirm which company will sign the employment documents. A group may operate under several legal names or in several provinces. Check the employer against the province’s official designation information and ask whether the employer will seek endorsement for your particular offer.

Check when the contract term starts

Suppose you receive a one-year contract starting on your first day of work. If you start on a work permit and become a permanent resident several months later, less than a year may remain on the contract. For TEER 0 to 3, ask the employer to clarify the written term from the date you become a permanent resident. For TEER 4, check for a fixed end date. Confirm the occupation code against the actual duties. Use IRCC’s table to compare the offer with your qualifying work experience. Exceptions apply to eligible Atlantic graduates and certain health care roles. A separate restriction applies if you, your spouse or your common-law partner is a majority owner of the hiring company.

Review IMM 0157 and confirm endorsement

Ask the employer for the completed IMM 0157. Compare the employer name, work location, hours, duties and term with the offer and contract before signing. Resolve any discrepancy with the employer. The employer submits the settlement plan as part of the provincial endorsement process. After the province issues your endorsement certificate, include it with the federal permanent residence application.

For help reviewing the documents, bring the written offer, job description, employer’s legal name, work location and any IMM 0157 or endorsement documents to 卓越移民 Premiervisa Group.
