Victoria 190: Is an Unexpired English Test or Skills Assessment Enough?

An unexpired document can still fall short. For Victoria's subclass 190 nomination, an English test and skills assessment must each have at least 12 weeks of validity remaining when the nomination application is submitted. Victoria also says it cannot nominate you after either has expired. An ROI submission date is not the date used for this particular check.

Check the document and the stage separately

Victoria requires a full, valid skills assessment; a provisional assessment issued for a subclass 485 visa is insufficient. Its FAQ also identifies an English-test exemption for qualifying passport holders and citizens of the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, United States and Republic of Ireland, with passport evidence required. If you believe an exemption applies, check the actual conditions before booking a test. This article's test-expiry worksheet is for applicants relying on test results.

For the skills assessment, the occupation must match the SkillSelect EOI. A document can therefore have enough time remaining yet still be unsuitable for the occupation being nominated. Record the occupation name and code alongside the dates so a calendar check does not hide a different problem.

Use an expiry worksheet before submitting

Prepare one row for the English result and another for the skills assessment. For each, record the issuer, reference number, relevant dates, how validity was established, and the nomination submission date you intend to use. Keep the source document beside the worksheet. If you cannot establish an expiry date from the applicable official rules or issuer's information, mark it unresolved rather than inventing a common expiry period for every document.

Planned submission depends on an unconfirmed future result

Twelve weeks is 84 days. As a planning calculation, subtract the proposed submission date from the relevant expiry date for each document independently. Use actual calendar dates, not a rough assumption that three calendar months always equals twelve weeks. If submission moves later, recalculate both rows.

Suppose an English result has fourteen weeks remaining on your proposed submission date, while the assessment has ten. The English result clears this timing check, but the assessment does not. These are hypothetical durations, not a client case. They show why using the later expiry date for the whole application can produce the wrong conclusion. Passing a timing check does not establish overall nomination eligibility.

Renewal needs its own timetable

If a row is short, identify the action needed and what evidence will confirm it has been completed. A test booking is different from an issued result. An assessment renewal request is different from a replacement decision. Put the booking or request date and the expected next event in separate columns; do not overwrite the current document's expiry with an expected future date.

Allow room for practical problems such as an unavailable appointment or a request for further documents. Ask the relevant issuer what its current process requires. Do not promise that a new result will arrive in time, or assume that lodging a renewal automatically extends the old document. If a nomination invitation is already held, compare the actual deadline with the unresolved work before deciding the application is ready.

Victoria's ROI guidance says a nomination invitation must be used within its specified period and will not be reissued if that period is missed. It also directs invited applicants to contact the programme about proposed EOI updates rather than modifying the EOI after invitation. Do not treat a replacement assessment or improved test score as permission to edit an invited EOI without checking the applicable instructions.

Keep a record of what was actually lodged

Immediately before submission, compare your worksheet with the final files and the actual date. Save a copy of the submitted application, supporting documents and portal receipt in a dated folder. Keep earlier versions separately so it remains clear which result supported which claim. A useful filename identifies the document type, reference and version without exposing personal information in a public link.

Nomination applications and supporting documents go through the Live in Melbourne portal, not by email. Victoria may ask for additional evidence during assessment. Its stated processing average is not a promise that your documents will remain valid until a decision, so continue tracking expiry after lodgement.

For a document-timing review with 卓越移民 Premiervisa Group, prepare the assessment, English evidence, current EOI summary and any actual nomination invitation. The immediate task is to establish what is valid, what remains unresolved and which deadline controls the next action.
