UK Sponsor Licence Revoked or Suspended: What Skilled Workers Should Check
A sponsor licence problem needs an immediate review of the actual official action and your own immigration position. Revocation, suspension and a business takeover are different events. Do not assume that every worker automatically has a new 60-day permission to start any job after hearing that a sponsor is under investigation.
Obtain the official facts first
Ask what has actually happened to the employing sponsor and preserve the relevant notification or verifiable record. A recruitment rumour, missing name in a search result or an employer's general reassurance does not establish the exact action. Identify the legal sponsor and licence rather than relying on a familiar brand or company group name.
Record whether you are inside or outside the UK, whether an application is pending, and what permission and CoS you currently hold. Different stages can produce different consequences. An assessment of a worker already employed in the UK should not be copied to someone abroad who has not yet travelled.
Revocation is not simply a payroll issue
GOVUK states that where a sponsor loses its licence, the CoS is cancelled and permission is limited to 60 days, or the remaining permission if that is shorter. Read the actual Home Office notice and resulting deadline. The public description should not be used to invent a later date or an unrestricted period of work.
Preserve the notice, current permission and employment records for prompt advice. The official guidance says the worker must leave the job and leave the UK unless a new visa application is made within the relevant period. What application is available still depends on eligibility and the actual circumstances; a job search alone is not an application or new permission.
Suspension requires its own analysis
A suspended licence is different from a revoked one. Check the current official guidance for the worker's stage and the actual action taken. Do not assume that an employer's pending representations mean the licence has already been restored, or that another company's licence can simply be used to continue the same employment arrangement.
Keep communications factual and dated. If the employer says that a problem has been resolved, obtain the evidence supporting that statement. A planned company restructuring or transfer of staff should be reviewed before work arrangements change. The worker's permission and the sponsor's administrative position need to be connected using genuine documents.
A new employer must provide a genuine eligible route
If another employer offers sponsorship, assess the real duties, occupation code, salary and CoS. A fee paid to someone promising access to a licence does not establish an eligible job. Obtain the actual contract and sponsoring legal entity, and do not start the new role merely because a CoS has been discussed.
Changing employer normally involves the appropriate application and permission. The urgency created by the old sponsor's problem does not remove the new job's requirements. Have the proposed start, remaining time and actual application process reviewed together, especially where the current notice leaves little time for preparing evidence.
Record family and travel consequences
Dependants have their own documents and possible consequences from the principal worker's position. Provide every family member's permission and any official notice rather than assuming that the worker's deadline is the complete family answer. School commitments, housing and travel should be planned around the verified position.
If outside the UK, obtain advice before travelling on documents associated with the affected sponsor. An unexpired document does not prove the sponsorship remains usable. Likewise, an in-country pending application can have its own travel consequences. Do not combine an employer-change plan with an overseas trip without reviewing both.
Preserve records and decide from actual options
Keep employment contracts, payslips, the CoS, official notices and a clear timeline. These records can assist immigration advice and any separate employment-law assessment, which have different purposes. 卓越移民 Premiervisa Group can help organise the file for appropriately qualified advisers to assess the remaining lawful options, without promising that a particular new sponsor or application will produce approval.
