New Passport With a UK Skilled Worker eVisa: Updating UKVI Details Before Travel
Renewing a passport does not automatically update every detail in your UKVI account. Before travelling, check that the identity document you intend to use is correctly linked to your digital immigration status. Updating account details, correcting an error in the eVisa and applying to extend permission are separate tasks.
Identify the account and the document you actually use
Start with the UKVI account associated with your immigration status. Confirm that you can sign in using the relevant identity details and receive security messages through your current contact information. If an adviser helped with an earlier application, establish which account was used rather than creating several accounts to try to solve the same problem.
Keep the current and previous passport details together. A new passport may involve a change of name or another identity detail that needs genuine supporting evidence. Preserve the official connection between the documents; do not edit a scan to make old records look as though they were issued under the new details.
Choose the correct update or correction route
GOVUK explains what details can be updated through a UKVI account, including relevant identity and contact information. An account update is not a new visa application and does not extend the expiry of the permission you hold. Read the current account instructions for the particular change and provide the evidence they request.
If the immigration status itself shows an error, use the appropriate eVisa error process. If you cannot sign in, address the access problem through the official support route. Treating every issue as a passport update can leave the actual error unresolved, particularly where a different document or account was used for the original application.
Allow for restrictions while an application is pending
GOVUK identifies information that cannot be changed through the usual account-update service while a visa decision is pending. Check the current instructions before submitting a change at that stage. Tell the adviser and the relevant official process about the actual pending application rather than assuming all updates can be completed in the same way at any time.
Where a passport has been lost, stolen or replaced abroad, record the circumstances and available documents accurately. An application or update acknowledgement is not a guarantee that an airline can already verify the new document. Give the process time and check the outcome before making a journey depend on an unfinished update.
Use a share code for the purpose requested
A share code enables an authorised check of immigration status for a specific purpose, such as a right-to-work check. Its validity period should not be confused with the duration of your visa. Generating a fresh code does not renew permission, change a sponsor or remove restrictions on the employment you may undertake.
When an employer asks for evidence, use the appropriate service and provide the correct details. A saved screenshot can be useful to explain an issue but does not replace the required check. If a change of employer requires new permission, a code showing the current status does not by itself approve the new sponsored role.
Check travel documents and family members separately
Before departure, compare the passport you will carry, the document linked to the account and the actual permission and expiry shown in the eVisa. Resolve mismatches through the official procedure. Where you hold more than one passport or nationality, explain the full position rather than assuming the document used for one journey answers every immigration question.
Each dependant needs their own details checked. Updating the principal applicant's passport does not update the rest of the family. Keep confirmation of completed changes with the relevant passport records, without sharing account passwords or security codes unnecessarily. 卓越移民 Premiervisa Group can help organise the identity and travel checklist for an appropriately qualified adviser to review, while the account holder completes the required official account and identity steps.
