Thailand Privilege for Families: Individual Permissions, Children, Documents and Living Costs

A family planning a long stay in Thailand cannot share one principal member's card or immigration permission. Review each person's passport, relationship, intended activities and travel dates. Thailand Privilege membership may address a particular long-stay purpose, but it does not automatically solve children's education, a spouse's employment or every relative's permission to stay.

Begin with the activities of each person

List who will live in Thailand, for how long, and what they intend to do there. Retirement, formal school attendance, employment and occasional visits should not be treated as identical purposes simply because everyone uses the same home address.

The operator's current purpose guidance states that the Privilege Entry tourist-visa status does not allow work or study, or a work-permit application under that status. Resolve the real education or work requirement before paying fees on the assumption that the membership covers it. A school offer and immigration permission remain separate matters.

Establish family relationships and signing authority

Prepare the genuine marriage, birth, adoption, guardianship or other relevant legal records. Different names, earlier marriages and changed passports should be explained through the real evidence. Living together or sharing expenses does not itself establish eligibility for a particular family arrangement.

The official Bronze application pack includes legal-representative and relationship-document requirements for applicants under twenty. Identify who may sign and consent. Translation or certification should follow the actual membership request; another household's document handling is not a universal rule.

Obtain a written membership arrangement per person

Check the available tier, relationship definition, individual term and cost. A principal member's approval should not be recorded as approval for the rest of the family. Do not assume every card has the same supplementary-member option or that any relative qualifies.

Promotional pricing requires its complete current conditions, including submission and payment deadlines. A headline image or old quotation should not be used as a permanent family price. Itemise each person's arrangement, with the source and date of the quotation, before comparing household totals.

Plan schooling before withdrawing from an existing school

Confirm curriculum, entry age, places, assessment, language, term dates and payment or withdrawal conditions directly with the intended school. Membership does not guarantee a place or a fee reduction. Keep current education records and allow for a delayed move.

Coordinate education and immigration schedules without letting either substitute for the other. Where a child needs a different appropriate permission, assess it on its own requirements. Avoid an irreversible withdrawal or non-refundable payment based solely on an estimated membership-processing time.

Separate membership benefits from real living costs

Budget membership and professional or documentation charges separately from rent, deposits, healthcare, insurance, education and transport. Obtain quotations for the intended city and household, rather than multiplying a single traveller's holiday budget by twelve.

Check healthcare needs individually, including existing conditions, regular medication and insurance limitations. A health-related membership benefit is not automatically comprehensive medical cover. Service points, transport and other privileges also depend on membership and provider conditions; a card is not freely transferable among relatives.

Keep residence records and individual dates current

Discuss TM30 residence notification with the accommodation provider and retain the relevant evidence. The operator states it does not handle that notification on a landlord's or member's behalf. A long lease does not itself complete the required notification.

Maintain a separate record of passport expiry, membership, visa, arrival permission and reporting dates for every person. Different travel dates may create different deadlines. Recheck after travel, passport replacement or a change of plans, and preserve official results rather than only service receipts.

Finally, review tax and other obligations from the actual household circumstances instead of assuming the card decides them. A useful family plan identifies what each person has, what remains pending and which financial commitments can still be changed if the move takes longer than expected.
