Philippines SRRV Classic Costs: Visa Deposits, Application Fees and Annual Charges

An SRRV Classic budget has several different parts: the visa deposit, PRA application fees, the annual PRA fee, bank and document costs, and the money needed to stay in the Philippines during processing. They should not be combined into one advertised “investment” figure. The deposit category depends on the applicant’s age and qualifying pension status, while household size can add charges.

Start with the deposit category

The PRA Expanded SRRV Program lists four Classic deposit amounts: USD 25,000 for a qualifying pensioner aged 40–49; USD 50,000 for a non-pensioner aged 40–49; USD 15,000 for a qualifying pensioner aged 50 or above; and USD 30,000 for a non-pensioner aged 50 or above. Confirm the pension category first. A lower deposit is not available merely because the applicant expects to retire soon.

Add application and annual fees separately

The PRA September 2025 processing guide lists an application fee of USD 1,500 for the principal applicant and USD 300 per spouse or dependant. It lists an initial SRRV Classic annual fee of USD 360 for the principal and up to two dependants, plus USD 100 for each additional dependant beyond two. The annual fee is distinct from the visa deposit and from the application charge.

Estimate the household amount

Before requesting a final estimate, identify every proposed dependant and check that the person fits PRA’s dependant definition. Count how many people are included in the base annual fee and whether any additional-dependant charge applies. If a family includes more than two dependants, ask PRA to confirm whether the applicable visa deposit also changes for that option and family configuration; do not apply an exception or extra-deposit rule from one category to another without confirmation.

Include remittance and document costs

PRA requires the visa deposit to be remitted to a PRA-accredited bank under its current remittance instructions. The applicant may also face transfer and intermediary-bank charges. Ask the sending and receiving banks for their current fees and processing times, and keep the transaction advice and resulting bank certificate. Add translation, apostille or consular authentication, medical examination, police-clearance and courier costs as separate estimates.

Budget for the application period

The PRA September 2025 guide states that all SRRV applicants must be physically present in the Philippines for the whole application process. Travel, accommodation, local transport and time away from work therefore belong in the household budget. The same guide states a processing period measured from receipt of complete documentary requirements, but the family should not treat that figure as a guaranteed completion date.

Use a four-part working budget

A practical worksheet separates (1) the visa deposit and its permitted handling, (2) PRA application and annual fees, (3) bank, medical, translation and authentication expenses, and (4) travel and living costs. Add a source and date beside each number. Do not describe a refundable or conditionally usable deposit as a fee, and do not describe third-party adviser charges as PRA charges.

PRA’s published schedules can change and may be supplemented by case-specific requirements. Confirm the current category, amount, receiving account and fee instruction with PRA before arranging funds. This is a planning framework, not a final quotation or an assessment of an individual application.

For each budget line, record who charges it, when it is due, which family members it covers, the currency and the source date. Ask banks whether intermediary institutions may deduct charges from a transfer, because a shortfall can delay the certificate or require a further payment. Keep the deposit evidence separate from invoices and receipts for professional assistance. Review the figures again immediately before filing rather than relying on a spreadsheet prepared months earlier.
