Indonesia E33G Extension and Re-entry: Filing Window, Government Payment and Employer Changes
Indonesia's E33G starts with a one-year stay and permits an extension application under the applicable process. The general official ITAS guidance gives a filing window from 30 days before expiry through the expiry day for a permission of up to one year. It also links its pending-application overstay treatment to submission and government payment before expiry. An adviser payment is not the same record.
Read the current ITAS and re-entry documents
Identify the permission actually held, its dates and passport details, together with the re-entry permission. Do not rely only on the original visa email after admission and issuance of the stay documents.
Keep proposed travel dates separate from the filing and expiry timetable. A valid stay permission and a valid re-entry permission answer different questions, so one should not be assumed to replace the other.
Prepare early while respecting the filing window
The Jakarta Pusat and Depok guidance distinguishes permissions up to one year from those longer than a year. The latter have a different window. Do not apply another category's three-month timetable to an E33G simply because it is more convenient.
Documents can be organised before the formal window opens. Review the work agreement, current income, passport changes and any family records in advance. Leaving the file until the expiry day creates avoidable dependence on successful payment and document handling at the last moment.
Confirm official submission and payment
The general ITAS guidance states that an application submitted and paid before expiry is not counted as overstay where completion takes place after the existing permission ends. Confirm that the rule and procedure apply to the actual case.
Keep the application number, official payment receipt and time records. A saved form, uploaded file, bank debit or service provider's invoice should not automatically be reported as the government having received a completed application and fee.
Use the extension requirements rather than the initial list unchanged
The official general extension guidance describes adjustments from the initial visa requirements, including the stated passport-minimum-validity and living-fund items. That does not mean no current identity, work or other relevant evidence can be required.
Retain the original application, but organise present contracts, payment records and material changes separately. Respond to the actual checklist or request. An earlier accepted document may explain history without proving the current position.
Review employment and activity changes honestly
If the overseas employer, remuneration or duties change, establish what the current facts support and what notification or application procedure is needed. Do not keep presenting an expired agreement as continuing work.
A move into local employment or another business activity is also not merely a routine date extension. E33G's overseas-company purpose should remain consistent with what the person actually does. Receiving payment abroad does not automatically make every local activity compatible.
Check travel, family and longer-term expectations separately
The official E33G page allows entry and exit while the re-entry permission remains valid. Confirm actual documents before travelling during a pending process or after a passport change. Each family member needs the appropriate individual review.
The general ITAS table's cumulative-duration framework is not an automatic permanent-residence or nationality approval. Any change to another category needs its own legal basis and assessment. Keep the immediate objective practical: a truthful current file, timely formal submission and payment, and a travel plan supported by the permission actually issued.
