France Visitor Residence Renewal: Four-to-Two-Month Filing Window, Current Evidence and ANEF Documents

France's visitor residence-card renewal is submitted online under the official timetable: no earlier than four months and no later than two months before the current relevant document expires. Resources, insurance, address and the non-working arrangement still need to reflect the present facts. An immediate ANEF upload receipt is not, by itself, provisional residence permission or renewal approval.

Identify the document and its actual expiry

Read the current visa or residence card and the procedure appropriate to that document. A VLS-TS validation and a later visitor-card or renewal application are separate events. Do not replace the actual expiry date with a lease date, insurance renewal or the date an adviser starts preparing the file.

Create a timetable showing the filing window, documents to update and any request deadlines. Preparation can begin earlier, but formal submission follows the applicable rules. A private appointment or service payment does not extend the current immigration document.

Refresh resources and the genuine non-working plan

Use current pension, property-income, bank or other relevant support evidence. Where a third person supports the applicant, retain the required undertaking, identity and resources evidence. Explain a material change rather than preserving a summary that no longer matches the underlying funds.

The current visitor-card list states annual resources of EUR17,735.19 for the listed single-person basis. Do not treat that as every family's living budget or count one resource repeatedly against undisclosed commitments. Accommodation conditions are also considered in the official assessment.

The visitor non-working condition continues. If the actual plan now involves employment, active business or professional work, have the appropriate permission assessed. A foreign payment source should not be used to conceal activity that contradicts the declared visitor purpose.

Keep insurance, address and personal documents current

The official renewal list requires health insurance covering the stay and recent address evidence, alongside the relevant identity and current-status materials. Read the actual policy period and named person. A previous premium payment does not establish continuing cover after it has expired.

Use address evidence matching the real tenant, owner, hotel or host arrangement and the applicable recency requirement. If circumstances changed, retain genuine new records and assess any relevant notification step. The OFII medical certificate is a separate item, with the official list addressing one already supplied; it should not be confused with insurance.

Distinguish the different ANEF attestations

The immediate attestation de dépôt confirms online filing, but the official explanation says it is not a provisional residence document and does not prove regularity of stay. Keep it as evidence of submission without expanding its legal effect.

The same official guidance distinguishes an attestation de prolongation d'instruction for the relevant complete, timely application, and an attestation de décision favorable. Those documents have different stated effects. Identify the actual file and document rather than assuming that every person waiting after an upload has the same rights.

Follow the case and separate costs from permission

Monitor official messages and retain any requests, responses and the latest submitted version. If the current document is near expiry, review the actual procedural position promptly. An expectation of a later favourable decision is not the decision itself, and a receipt should not be advertised as a universal travel or return document.

Visa, validation, card and renewal procedures can have separate charges, while insurance, translation, housing and professional fees are additional categories. Check the applicable current payment notice for the actual stage. A single service-package total should not be represented as every government cost or as payment that secures approval.

After the outcome, keep the formal decision and resulting document with the timetable and evidence. Refresh each family member's individual position too. A renewed contract, school place or housing arrangement may support practical plans, but none automatically renews visitor residence on its own.
