Croatia Digital Nomad Funds: Monthly Income, Bank Balances and the Family Add-On

Croatia's current digital nomad guidance lists minimum monthly resources of EUR3,622.50. It also describes bank-balance evidence of EUR43,470 for a planned 12-month stay or EUR65,205 for 18 months. These are means-of-support figures, not an investment paid to the government. Choose the evidence route that matches the real financial arrangement.

Understand the calculation behind the published figure

The Ministry of the Interior uses 2.5 times the previous year's average net monthly salary as the principal applicant's resource basis. The published amount can therefore change as the applicable salary data and rules change. Recheck the current figure before submission rather than treating a saved 2026 screenshot as a permanent threshold.

Record fixed pay, conditional bonuses and one-off receipts separately. A contract describing potential earnings does not explain every actual bank receipt. Preserve the original currency, payer and period so the evidence can be understood before any conversion into euros.

Select the evidence that supports the proposed stay

The official list describes three routes: a bank statement showing the total required for the intended stay, a statement showing the required regular monthly income, or payslips for at least six months. Check the actual period and document requirements for the route being used. A large asset valuation is not automatically the same as money shown available in the relevant bank evidence.

For regular salary, match the payslips to bank credits and explain genuine differences such as deductions, exchange or payment timing. For a total-balance approach, identify the account holder, available amount and supporting record. Do not describe an anticipated sale or future distribution as money already available.

The financial route does not replace the qualifying remote-work purpose. A person with sufficient savings still needs the relevant evidence of work for a foreign employer or their own qualifying company. Keep the work explanation beside the financial record instead of presenting the bank balance as a complete immigration application.

Apply the family addition to the right base

The official formula adds 10% of the average net monthly salary for each additional qualifying family member or partner. It does not add 10% of the principal applicant's 2.5-times amount. Using the current figures, the underlying average is EUR1,449 and the arithmetic addition is EUR144.90 per person.

For illustration, two additional people would produce EUR3,622.50 plus twice EUR144.90, or EUR3,912.30 monthly. This is arithmetic using the current published basis, not an assessment that either person qualifies for family reunification. Confirm the actual group and current standard when preparing the application.

Check the relationship and application sequence separately

Having enough resources does not create family eligibility. The Ministry says close-family applications submitted before the principal applicant has been granted digital nomad temporary stay will be rejected. Plan that sequence and review the actual relationship evidence instead of treating a household funds total as permission to file everyone at any stage.

Family members may also have different passport and entry requirements. Record who is applying, their relationship and the stage of the principal applicant's permission. A fee quote should identify which person's work and which application it actually covers.

Make the financial documents usable

The current instructions require clearly identified financial evidence in PDF, with a maximum file size of 2MB, and the currency must be clear. The listed supporting documents must be in Croatian or English, with translation by an authorised translator where needed. Obtain readable genuine records rather than relying on unlabelled phone screenshots.

Keep government charges, translations, insurance and the household living budget separate from the required bank resources. Different submission channels have different charges; do not add every possible channel's fee to one person's application. For an initial review, provide the intended duration, actual work model, resource route and proposed family group, then arrange a suitable channel for the sensitive evidence.
