Missed your subclass 462 ballot deadline or withdrew your application? Can you use the same ID again?

Home Affairs allows a selected registration ID to be used once for a first Work and Holiday visa application (subclass 462). If you miss the deadline in the selection notice, the registration expires. If you lodge and then withdraw the visa application, you cannot reuse that registration ID, even if the original notice period has time left.

Check which record you withdrew

Situation — What happens

You withdraw the ballot registration while waiting for selection — Home Affairs cannot reinstate it. You can register again only if the registration window for your country ballot is still open.

You are selected but do not lodge in time — The registration expires. You cannot lodge using it or register again for that program year.

You lodge the first visa application and later withdraw it — The same registration ID cannot be reused. Home Affairs gives no second chance to apply in that program year.

Home Affairs says the ballot registration fee is not refunded when you withdraw the registration, even by mistake. If you paid a visa application charge, check the refund rules for that separate payment.

If the deadline has not passed but the form is stuck

Suppose you opened the visa application linked to your registration ID and an attachment keeps failing. First check the status of the existing application and save the exact error. Home Affairs says you cannot delete a linked first-visa application and start another one once it has been opened. Follow the ImmiAccount troubleshooting guide if you cannot continue.

Selected applicants normally have 28 calendar days from notification, with the cutoff based on Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). Use the exact date in your selection notice and ImmiAccount. If you are approaching your 31st birthday, compare it with the age deadline. Keep any support confirmation separately from your visa lodgement receipt.

What to check after expiry or withdrawal

Save your selection notice, registration ID, any lodgement receipt and any withdrawal confirmation. If you plan to enter a future ballot, check the published registration window and the eligibility rules that apply at that time. For a review with Premiervisa Group, have your dates and a redacted screenshot of the account status ready.
