Subclass 191 Hong Kong stream: Which earlier visa conditions should you check?
Yes. For the subclass 191 Hong Kong stream, Home Affairs requires compliance with the conditions of your eligible visa while you were in Australia. The check covers the entire period you held the relevant visa. The separate regional residence, work and study requirements look at the three years immediately before you apply. Those timelines may begin on different dates.
Start with the grant notices
Record each visa’s grant date, subclass and conditions. Use VEVO to check the visa currently in effect. For earlier conditions, refer to the grant notice and records from that period. If you changed employer or role, or received a new visa, record when each change took effect.
For example, a person who has held an eligible subclass 482 visa for four years might be preparing a regional history for the three years before lodging. The first year may sit outside that regional timeline. Keep the visa and employment records from that year so earlier compliance can still be checked.
Match the evidence to two separate timelines
Start the first timeline at the eligible visa grant date. Note periods in Australia, the relevant conditions and the actual work or study arrangements. Start the second timeline three years before the proposed lodgement date. Record home addresses, work locations, campuses and postcodes. Attach employment contracts, employer letters, payslips, leases or education records to the periods they explain.
If an employer change date does not match payroll records, locate the original documents and note the dates, visa and circumstances that need checking. If you need help reviewing the pathway, have the grant notices and both timelines ready before contacting Premiervisa Group.
