Can you travel after applying for Australia’s 191 Hong Kong stream?

You can wait outside Australia for a decision on a subclass 191 Hong Kong stream application. If you plan to leave and return while it is pending, check which visa will be in effect on your return date and whether it allows you to enter. Your 191 application receipt confirms lodgement.

If your current 482 or 485 is still valid, check the date you plan to return

Use VEVO and the grant notice to confirm the visa currently in force, its expiry date and travel conditions. Compare those dates with your scheduled return and allow for changes to the flight. Check each traveller separately, including children.

For example, your current visa may expire a few days after you plan to return from a family visit. If you need to change the flight, the later arrival could fall after expiry. Check the available travel and bridging arrangements before leaving Australia.

If you need a bridging visa for the trip, check whether a BVB has been granted

Home Affairs says Bridging visa B (BVB) is the only bridging visa that allows departure and return during a specified travel period while you await a substantive visa decision. If you depart while another bridging visa is in effect, that bridging visa ceases.

You must be in Australia to apply for and be granted a BVB. Wait for the decision and read the travel period in the grant notice before arranging departure. If your return falls outside that period, you cannot rely on that BVB to enter. Confirm your passport is linked to the current visa record.

If you get a decision overseas, check the latest notice

Keep checking ImmiAccount for requests and decisions. If the 191 is granted while you are abroad, read the entry instructions and confirm the passport details before you travel. Recheck your status if the flight changes or your current visa or BVB travel period is close to expiring.

If you need help reviewing your plans, bring your current grant notice, departure and return dates and the visa details of each traveller to 卓越移民 Premiervisa Group.
