Subclass 191 Hong Kong stream: How to update your passport after lodgement
If you receive a new passport after lodging a subclass 191 Hong Kong stream application, notify Home Affairs so it can link the new passport to your application or existing visa. You can usually do this in ImmiAccount. If several family members renew their passports, check and submit the details for each person separately.
Update the passport in the original application
Sign in to ImmiAccount and select the application. Use Edit or View details to open Application home, then choose Update details and Change of passport details. Select the applicant, enter the new passport details, state the reason for the change and submit.
Compare the biographical pages of the old and new passports. Check the name, passport number, issue date and expiry date. Repeat the check for any family member who also received a new passport. Keep a record of the submission and monitor your application for further requests.
Check whether the web form applies
Home Affairs directs some applicants to its New Passport Details web form, including people whose date of birth or sex or gender details changed, or whose application cannot be imported into ImmiAccount. Check the supporting evidence required for your situation. If your name or travel document type has changed, check the applicable evidence and process before submitting.
Confirm your travel arrangements before leaving
If your passport is renewed while the application is pending and you plan to travel soon, submit the update and confirm whether the new passport has been linked. Your ability to re-enter Australia depends on the visa and travel conditions in effect at the time. If the subclass 191 visa is granted, check the details and entry instructions on the grant notice.
If you need help reviewing the next steps, have the old and new passport details, current visa, application reference and intended travel dates ready before contacting Premiervisa Group.
