France ICT Application Documents: Proving Group Service, Company Links and the French Role

A strong French employee ICT file is not simply a large bundle of paperwork. The records should support one real, consistent intra-group posting: who employs the person, how the group relationship works, how long the person has worked in the group, and what the French assignment involves. Article L.421-26 sets a minimum of six months’ professional seniority in the group for the employee ICT residence card and describes a senior-management or expert assignment. The French public-service guidance also lists employment, group and role evidence.

Separate the evidence by responsible party

The applicant can prepare the passport, current immigration documents, CV and qualifications relevant to the proposed role. The overseas employer should provide the genuine employment contract, confirmation of service, payroll evidence and posting arrangements. The French host entity and group team should explain the receiving entity, its relationship to the overseas employer, the French work location, duties and intended assignment period. Assigning responsibility early makes it clear which facts only the company can verify.

Show group seniority on a timeline

List each period of employment by legal employer, role and start and end date. Link the timeline to contracts, employer letters and payslips. If the employee moved between group companies, explain how the entities are connected and what changed in the employment relationship. A statement that someone has “worked for the group for years” is not a substitute for records. Employment outside the relevant group should not simply be added to reach the stated period.

Where the contract, payslip and payment record show different company names, identify the reason and retain the supporting change documents. A company rename, payroll change, transfer and acquisition are different events. Keep dates accurate and explain the actual sequence rather than editing records to make them look uniform.

Document the corporate link and the French work

A shared brand, common shareholder or commercial relationship does not by itself establish the relevant group relationship. Identify the legal name and location of the overseas employer and the French host entity, then support each link in the corporate chain with genuine records. An organisation chart can help a reader, but it does not replace the underlying evidence. Mark a proposed transaction or planned company as pending until it has actually taken effect.

Describe the work in practical terms. The employee ICT card concerns a senior-management or expert assignment; a title such as director, manager or specialist alone does not establish what the person will do. Explain the role abroad, the French tasks, the level of responsibility or expertise, and how the employee’s experience fits. If the arrangement is direct local employment in France, assess that route separately instead of combining two different employment bases in one ICT file.

Check consistency before lodging

Compare the contract, posting letter, employer confirmation, corporate records and role description. Names, dates, job, work location and assignment length should be understandable together. If they differ, explain the genuine reason. Do not use a letter without factual support to conceal a mismatch. Official document lists can vary by application location and may change, so check the current instructions of the relevant French authority before filing.

A missing record may be obtainable from the employer or institution that holds it. A fact that does not yet meet a condition cannot be fixed by adding more attachments. Keep those issues separate: one calls for document retrieval; the other may require waiting for a genuine condition to be met or assessing another route that actually fits.

Official sources

Checked against the official sources available on 22 October 2026. The applicable checklist should be confirmed for the applicant’s location, assignment and intended permission.
